Barça seems to be abandoning the Jonathan David track, despite his 17 goals this season. The Canadian would not be the ideal profile to complement Lewandowski, leaving other clubs in the running to attract him.

FC Barcelona seems to have turned the page on the possible arrival of Jonathan David, the Canadian striker from LOSC, according to revelations from Mundo Deportivo. Although performing well this season with 17 goals in 26 games, notably in the Champions League against prestigious teams like Real Madrid, Atlético and Juventus, the profile of the 24-year-old player no longer corresponds to the expectations of the Catalan club.

While Robert Lewandowski should remain the spearhead of the Blaugranas for at least one more season, Barcelona management would favor a striker whose style better adapts to the technical philosophy of the team and the needs of the collective. Despite the undeniable talent of Jonathan David and his impact in big matches, the Catalans consider that he does not constitute the ideal complement for their Polish center forward.

Jonathan David, a coveted star in Europe

Under contract with Lille until 2025, Jonathan David, however, attracts many major European clubs thanks to his consistency and efficiency. With more than 100 goals in five seasons at LOSC, the former La Gantoise player could take a step forward by joining a more ambitious team. If Barça closes the door, other clubs could benefit, especially since the Canadian has never hidden his dream of playing in a major European championship.
