FC Barcelona is in turmoil regarding the future of Dani Olmo, who arrived this summer for €55 million from RB Leipzig. While the club awaits a crucial verdict on the approval of its contract for the second part of the season, the Blaugranas risk losing big. If the Spanish courts reject Barça’s approaches and La Liga refuses their financial plan based on the sale of boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou (€120 million), Olmo could become free to commit elsewhere from January.
In the event of a forced departure, several major clubs are ready to seize this opportunity. According to AS, Paris Saint-Germain is in the running, although Sport mentions a non-aggression pact between the two clubs. In the Premier League, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Arsenal are interested, with the Gunners looking to compensate for Bukayo Saka’s injury. For its part, Bayern Munich would also consider recruiting the Spaniard, used to the Bundesliga.
A huge potential cost for Barça
If Dani Olmo leaves the club, Barça would lose the entire €55 million invested for his transfer this summer. Worse, if the player remains without being registered, a contractual clause requires Barça to continue to pay him his salary, estimated at €800,000 per month, or €4.8 million over six months for an unusable player. This situation could inflict a double financial and sporting blow on the Blaugranas.
