Liverpool made the great operation of the day. This Thursday evening, as part of the 18th day of the Premier League, the Reds won against Leicester in front of their home crowd with a score of 3 goals to 1.

Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah allowed Liverpool to take the three points and strike a big blow on this Boxing Day. With this success, Arne Slot’s players are now 7 points ahead of Chelsea with a game in hand.

Earlier in the evening, the Blues surprisingly conceded defeat against Fulham with a score of 2 goals to 1.

However, ahead of the score, the Ruud Van Nistelrooy version of Leicester cannot recover and remains on a series of 4 matches without a victory. The Foxes are 18th.

Ayew Shower Liverpool Entrance

As is often the case at Anfield, the Reds start strong with intense pressing and a lot of aggression in the duels. However, Virgil Van Dijk’s partners will be surprised by a counter attack from the Foxes. Jordan Ayew plays the Scousers defense in the area following a serve from Stephy Mavididi and finishes with finesse with his right foot in a pivot (1-0, 6th).

A surprising opening score, but which does not change the intentions of the Liverpool players who will continue to increase the attacks. After many clear chances, the championship leader will finally find the fault at the end of the period thanks to Cody Gakpo (1-1, 45+1).

The Reds start the second

The Scousers will continue their momentum as soon as they return from the locker room and directly make a difference. Served by Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones will give his team the advantage with a goal from the surface (2-1.49).

Stunned, the 2016 English champions will never manage to get back into the match and worry their opponents. In confidence but above all liberated by these two goals, the Reds will kill the match in the last minutes thanks to the inevitable and essential Mo Salah who deceives Jakub Stolarczyk with a flat foot full of finesse of the left foot (3-1, 82nd). The Egyptian now brings his total to 16 league goals and establishes himself more than ever as the country’s number 1 scorer.

The bill could have been higher if Gakpo’s goal in the 68th minute had not been refused.
