The adage is that the title is not decided on Boxing Day but that it can be lost on this traditional Boxing Day in England. Manchester City thus launched the 18th day of the Premier League with a draw against Everton at the Etihad Stadium (1-1), with a missed penalty from Erling Haaland on the hour mark, and Liverpool concluded the evening of football with a success in his Anfield den in front of Leicester (3-1), with the 16th goal from the stratospheric Mohamed Salah!

The Reds once again strike a major blow at the top of the championship. Arne Slot’s team not only takes a 7-point lead over Chelsea, who lost in the afternoon against Fulham at Stamford Bridge (1-2), but also has a 14-point lead over Man City. Pep Guardiola, an English champion who a few days ago was still hoping to get back into the title race… And Liverpool also played one match less than their pursuers!

Liverpool hero Salah

Liverpool were once again unleashed offensively after being led by the Foxes, with a goal scored from the start by Jordan Ayew (6th). In the wake of a curling shot from Mo Salah on the bar (45th), it was that of Cody Gakpo which allowed the locals to equalize before half-time (45th+1). Returning from the locker room, Curtis Jones powered a cross from Alexis Mac Allister to give his team the advantage (49th).

And, as the end of the match approached, the inevitable Salah scored the break goal, perfectly placing his left shot out of reach of the opposing goalkeeper, the Pole Jakub Stolarczyk (82nd). In all competitions, the PL’s top scorer has an exceptional record of 21 goals and 16 assists. With such offensive power and
Egyptian King flamboyant, Liverpool has all the weapons in hand to claim the 20th crown in its history.
