The president of Paris Saint-Germain and the ECA (European Club Association), Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, has once again expressed his categorical opposition to the European Super League project.
In comments relayed by L’Équipe, he criticized what he considers to be a plan disconnected from the realities of football: “This is the third Christmas in a row where management consultants and clubs with separatist interests seek to weaken Europe. They are still motivated by the same selfish ambitions and acting exclusively in their own self-interest. »
A redesigned formula, but still rejected
Despite abandoning the idea of a closed league in favor of a system based on meritocracy, the project still does not convince Al-Khelaïfi. He describes this attempt at revival as “publicity stunt” and emphasizes the importance of preserving the fundamental values of European football.
As a central figure in the opposition to the Super League, he remains firm: no concession will be made to a project that he deems contrary to the collective interest.
