Last Thursday, Jimmy Cabot decided to end his career as a professional footballer, even though he was only thirty years old. The right midfielder from Racing Club de Lens never recovered from an injury to the cruciate ligaments of his left knee, contracted in October 2022 against Montpellier.
It was with heartbreak that the native of Chambéry had to make this decision. “The initial injury is the cruciate ligaments. This is what stands out because I haven’t been seen since, but it’s mainly the complications behind it that lead to this end of my career. At 20 years old, I had already had meniscus surgery so I already had exposure to shocks, on the bone and on the cartilage, quite significant during these years during my career”he confided this Sunday morning, in the show “Stephen Brunch”, on RMC.
Jimmy Cabot, excruciating pain
Even in everyday life, this little 1m64 person suffers martyrdom. “Today, it’s as if I had very severe osteoarthritis, he laments. I have swelling that is incessant. If I sit for two hours, getting up will be difficult. If I walk for several hours, it will be complicated. »
During his eleven years of career, Jimmy Cabot will have successively passed through Troyes (2013-2016), Lorient (2016-2020), Angers (2020-2022) and therefore the Sang et Or. With the latter, he managed to finish at second place in Ligue 1 at the end of the 2022-2023 financial year.
