As the saying goes in England, the Premier League title is not decided on Boxing Day (next Thursday after Christmas), but can be lost during the festive period. To see if Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will falter during the next three days scheduled in one week. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest can celebrate Christmas and then the transition to 2025 in the top 4 of the Premier League! The team led by Nuno Espirito Santo won a third consecutive victory in the league at Brentford (0-2) on Saturday.

Forest were once again solid defensively in West London, protecting former RC Strasbourg goalkeeper Matz Sels. New Zealand striker Chris Wood did not need to score his 11th goal of the season. Ola Aina, the team’s right back, opened the scoring before half-time (38th) and Anthony Elanga, scorer last week against Aston Villa (2-1), doubled the lead after returning from the locker room (51st ). 2-0 and Nottingham Forest could take 3rd place from Arsenal, traveling to Palace in the evening.

Suspense in the Premier League

The double winner of the Champion Clubs’ Cup (1979 and 1980) has an XXL opportunity to stay in the race for European qualifications and above all discover the new Champions League formula. The Premier League not only has four seeds for the C1, it also has a great chance of obtaining an additional (direct) ticket for the European competition thanks to the results of the English clubs this season. Forest are currently three points ahead of 5th Aston Villa and four points more than 6th, the disastrous reigning champion Manchester City. The Brentford of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa is 12th and must restart next Friday in Brighton.

The race for Europe promises to be crazy during the second part of the season and Newcastle can very well mix in the top 5. The Magpies produced an offensive festival on the field of Ipswich Town (0-4), with a hat-trick from Alexander Isak, who becomes the second Swedish player to score three times in a PL match after Fredrik Ljungberg.
