FC Barcelona finds itself in a delicate situation for the final phase of the 2024-2025 Champions League due to the endless work at the Camp Nou. With the confirmed unavailability of the Lluis-Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuic, several options, including a relocation to Madrid, are being explored.

Work on Camp Nou, which began in June 2023, has accumulated serious delays. According to Marcathe delivery initially scheduled for mid-February 2025 has now been postponed, making it impossible to use the stadium this season. Problems creating emergency exits and delays in rooting the new lawn further complicate the situation. The Blaugranas must designate a stadium for the entire final phase before January 31 or, in the event of direct qualification for the round of 16, before February 21.

Madrid, an option considered

In the absence of sufficient local solutions (Girona, Lleida, Tarragona) or politically acceptable (Espanyol Barcelona stadium), Barça is exploring alternatives outside Catalonia. Options include Valencia (Mestalla) or Madrid, where Atlético’s Riyadh Air Metropolitano could host the Blaugranas.

The Santiago-Bernabéu, stronghold of the Madrid rival, seems excluded for obvious reasons of rivalry.
