A new kid could well be called up to the French team soon. Already a member of the Espoirs (9 selections), Quentin Merlin would be followed very closely by Didier Deschamps and his staff, according to the indiscretions of Provence. He would be even more so since his arrival in Marseille this summer.

After a good start to the season with OM, the former Nantes player suffered a thigh muscle injury at the start of September with the Espoirs. Absent for almost two months, the 22-year-old left back took a little time to regain good sensations, he who had never had a muscular problem during his career.

A first call-up to the Blues next March?

“Yes, I had a muscle injury. For me, it was the first muscle injury of my career. So, I was learning, to understand this sensation, to see how it begins to go, to heal. At the very beginning, when I started again, I still had sensations that were not at their best. But here, in today’s match (against Lille last Saturday), I feel very good, I no longer have any discomfort », Confided Quentin Merlin, author of a great performance and a magnificent goal against Lille.

Now free from his injury, Quentin Merlin can start dreaming of a first call-up to the France A team next March. On this occasion, the Blues will play a double confrontation against Croatia, as part of the quarter-finals of the Nations League. To do this, he will have to string together high-level performances, like against Lille.
