Seeded in the draw for the first phase of Euro 2025 football – like Switzerland (host country of the competition), Spain and Germany – the French women’s team inherited a group of the most formidable in the game of chance.
This Monday evening, the innocent hands called upon reserved for the Blues an opposition to the outgoing English European champions, at the start of the tournament. Then a duel with the Netherlands, crowned during the previous continental meeting, in 2017.
Tough Englishwomen
It is a smaller nation which completes the toughest group on the field – Wales in this case. Note that France has recently gained the upper hand against each of these adversaries. On May 31, 2024, Hervé Renard’s players – then on the bench – dominated the English in Newcastle (1-2). They lost four days later in Saint-Etienne against the same selection, however, by the same score.
