Last summer, Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid freely after seven seasons at Paris Saint-Germain. However, the French striker is aware of it, he is not currently playing at his best level. However, this does not prevent him from accumulating 12 goals and 2 assists in 22 matches for Madrid.

If the Bondynois is not yet unanimous among observers, particularly on the Spanish side, he can nevertheless count on the unwavering support of his coach Carlo Ancelotti, his teammates, the supporters, but also former players of the merengue house. Fernando Morientes, former striker of the club between 1997 and 2005, also spoke out in favor of Mbappé, describing the criticism towards him as disproportionate.

Mbappé victim of his success

“He is at 12 goals. I finished my first season at Real Madrid with 12 goals in total and I was the team’s top scorer. If that’s what being out of shape is…,” launched the three-time winner of the Champions League in a statement given to El Desmarque.

Morientes believes that the high demands placed on Mbappé can largely be explained by his past performances, which have set the bar very high. “I believe that Mbappé’s problem is that he has very poorly accustomed football consumers and we obviously expect the best from him. But the best of him is yet to come and it will happen, that’s for sure,” he concluded optimistically.
