For four days of the championship, Arsenal and Liverpool have had exactly the same results. And they continued this Saturday, while the sixteenth day of the Premier League was being played. While they respectively remained on three wins and a draw, the two teams shared the points with their opponents of the day, respectively Everton (0-0) and Fulham (2-2).

Already assured of retaining their leading position before the start of their match, Liverpool struggled against Fulham. The visitors opened the scoring through Andreas Pereira in the eleventh minute. In the process, another hard blow for the Reds which were reduced to ten after the expulsion of Andrew Robertson (17th). But they found the resources to come back to the level just after the break, thanks to Cody Gakpo (1-1, 47th). Half an hour later, Fulham regained the advantage through Rodrigo Muniz (1-2, 76th).

Dominating is not winning

Knocked out the Liverpuldians? Not really since they will equalize again on an inspiration from Diogo Jota (2-2, 86th). The score will remain there despite the end of the match in their favor. Arsenal could therefore have taken advantage of this to reduce their delay and come back to four points, but the Gunners remained silent at home against a very modest Everton team (0-0). Mikel Arteta’s men dominated (76% possession, 13 shots to 2), but nothing helped. Arsenal therefore remain third, one point behind Chelsea.

In the other matches of the afternoon, Newcastle (11th) crushed Leicester (16th), thanks in particular to a double from Jacob Murphy (4-0). Finally, Ipswich (18th) won the low-ranked duel which pitted it against Wolverhampton (1-2), its direct pursuer in the ranking. Enough to close the gap a little on the first non-relegation places.
