Roberto De Zerbi seems to have found the right formula for Olympique de Marseille. After three consecutive victories in Ligue 1, the Italian coach is praised by Pierre Ménès. The latter believes that the coach’s tactical choices are bearing fruit, although the technician is still in the adjustment phase.
A pragmatic and progressing OM
On his YouTube channel, Pierre Ménès analyzed the progress made by OM under the leadership of De Zerbi. According to him, the Italian favors a tactical balance: “The OM team that is emerging with Roberto De Zerbi is not that offensive. With profiles like Mason Greenwood or Neal Maupay in attack, and a defensive midfielder reinforced by Adrien Rabiot and a rediscovered Valentin Rongier, De Zerbi seems to be banking on solidity above all. Now, what we ask of Olympique de Marseille is to win matches, not to put everyone 5-0.”
A consistent formula to be confirmed against Lille
Despite a defensive orientation, Ménès believes that OM is progressing and that De Zerbi is close to stabilizing his eleven: “I think De Zerbi is still groping around to find the best formula, but we are getting closer to something coherent.” The Phocaeans, runners-up to PSG, will have to confirm their good momentum against Lille this Saturday, in a crucial duel for the race for European places.
