Salzburg, PSG’s last hope in the Champions League

Four points after five days is an understatement to say that PSG disappoints in this new Champions League formula. Only one miraculous success, on the first day against FC Girona and nothing since apart from a sluggish draw against PSV Eindhoven at the Parc des Princes and defeats in London against Arsenal, and two logical defeats against Atlético de Madrid at the Parc and at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich. Three matches from the end of the C1 championship phase, PSG is currently eliminated and not even qualified for the play-offs which will take place next February.

This trip to Austria to Salzburg, which will be broadcast exclusively this Tuesday, December 10 at 9:00 p.m. on CANAL+FOOT and CANAL+Live 1., is therefore of capital importance for PSG. A move largely within the ropes of the band to Luis Enrique in normal conditions. Yes, but here we are, Paris has been facing quite a zone of turbulence for several weeks. And this is reflected in the results with a defeat in Munich and two sluggish draws against FC Nantes (1-1) and AJ Auxerre. Back against the wall, the Capital club no longer has a choice and will have to declare sacred union in order to get out of this very bad situation.

Paris SG has what it takes to hurt Salzburg

Fortunately for Marquinhos’s team, the opponent that appears before them is undoubtedly the weakest in this phase of the championship. Dropped in the Austrian championship 13 points behind Sturm Graz, the club, owned by Red Bull, conceded far too many goals to be a real danger. With an average of 3 goals conceded per match in the Champions League, Salzburg will be blown away by PSG who should take an example from Brest who scored 4 at the Red Bull Arena last October. We should therefore witness the awakening of the Parisian attack, to the great dismay of the Austrian team who should take a new suitcase on Tuesday evening.
