PSG is playing big in the Champions League. Find out how many points Luis Enrique’s team absolutely must achieve to hope to continue the adventure.

With only 4 points in 5 games, PSG is going through a particularly delicate Champions League group stage. The latest defeat plunged the Parisians to a worrying 25th place in the general ranking, outside the first 24 positions which give access to the playoffs. Despite this critical situation, Luis Enrique displayed a certain optimism during his last press conference, calling the next match the “final”. But will a furtive burst be enough?

Qualification still possible, but at what cost?

To hope to secure a place in the top 24 and extend its European adventure, PSG must demonstrate a consistency that it has not yet shown this season. According to projections, reaching a total of 9 to 10 points would be essential to be among the qualified teams. This scenario therefore implies that Paris must win two of its last three matches. A major challenge which will require an immediate increase in power.

Tough opponents ahead

The path to qualification is strewn with pitfalls. PSG’s remaining opponents, well ranked and in good shape, will leave nothing to chance. And in particular Manchester City, with whom the Ile-de-France residents will cross swords in January. The key will lie in the Parisians’ ability to regain defensive solidity and offensive efficiency, two recurring weak points this season.

An obligation of results for PSG

In summary, PSG no longer has any margin for error. A victory tonight is imperative to continue dreaming. Supporters expect a strong reaction, commensurate with the club’s ambitions. The verdict will soon be in: will Paris make the playoffs?
