Kylian Mbappé, recently interviewed in
Click by Mouloud Achour, did not convince everyone with his statements. Among the criticisms, that of Laure Boulleau, former French international and consultant at “Canal Football Club”, was particularly supported.
“Overly controlled communication”
Speaking on the CFC set, the sports journalist expressed her disappointment: “I was happy to see him speak again, it’s been too long. It’s brilliant, but I’m still hungry. I expected more, especially in terms of its performance. His communication was too controlled, he should have been more honest about his current difficulties.”
Boulleau regretted that Mbappé responded collectively to questions about his level: “He responded with ‘we’. I was hoping that he would take more responsibility and say: ‘Yes, I’m not at my best at the moment, I’m working to challenge myself’.
A criticism of his attitude in the French team
The consultant also criticized Mbappé for avoiding sensitive subjects, in particular his controversial statements with the French team during previous gatherings:
“He could have expressed regret. His attitudes at the press conference were not elegant. I would have liked him to talk about it and explain his feelings.”
While the Real Madrid star is going through a complicated period on and off the field, Laure Boulleau concluded that his performances would be the key to appeasing the critics:
“If he was very good on the field, the extra-sporting controversies would not have as much impact.”
