The former Manchester United player scored his 10th Ligue 1 goal of the 2024/25 season as he helped Marseille beat Saint-Etienne 2-0 on Sunday. With his goal in the 65th minute, the 23-year-old winger equaled his best league goal tally which he previously achieved with the Red Devils in the 2019/20 season. Greenwood had scored 10 goals in 31 Premier League appearances.

The young striker also set a unique Ligue 1 record by becoming the first player since former Brazil international Sonny Anderson to score 10 French league goals in just 14 appearances. Anderson achieved this feat in 1994 while playing for AS Monaco.

Greenwood, the immense feat

Greenwood has displayed phenomenal form in the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season and is now the second top scorer in the French top flight alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and one goal behind Lille’s Jonathan David.

The striker will now aim to break his personal best in a single league campaign next Saturday in the Marseille-Lille Ligue 1 match.
