After Manchester City’s defeat against Liverpool (2-0) last Sunday, Pep Guardiola raised six fingers to symbolize his number of English championship titles with the club he coaches. A gesture reminiscent of that of JosĂ© Mourinho in 2017.

Asked to react to this comparison, the Spanish technician indicated that he did not want to have the same career development as the Portuguese. “I don’t wish it on myself, even if José and I are a bit alike. But he has three championship titles, and I have six”he declared with a touch of irony.

Mourinho doesn’t appreciate Guardiola’s humor

The reaction of the “Special One” was not long in coming. “Guardiola spoke about me on Wednesday. He won six times and I won three, but I won in a fair and clean manner. If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by then dealing with 150 lawsuits.” stressed the former Chelsea coach.

Mourinho refers to the “trial” of Manchester City, accused by the Premier League of 115 breaches of its regulations. The English club is accused of having violated financial fair play rules. The facts, which extend from 2009 to 2018, correspond to the period of acquisition of 80% of the club by Abu Dhabi.
