Olympique de Marseille is accelerating on the file of Benoît Badiashile, central defender of Chelsea. According to consistent information from several media, the Marseille club have started discussions with the Blues for a possible loan of the player from the winter transfer window.

Marseille aims for heavy defense

At 23, Badiashile, a former Monaco player, is struggling to establish himself at Chelsea with only 3 appearances in the Premier League this season. Competed by executives like Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill, he could benefit from additional playing time in Marseille. For OM, this strong reinforcement would solidify a defense where Leonardo Balerdi sorely lacks support. The Marseille leaders, led by Pablo Longoria, would also have probed the Kalidou Koulibaly trail, but the Senegalese’s high salary makes the operation complicated.

If OM materializes the loan of Badiashile, it would be a strategic operation, with or without a purchase option, to strengthen their squad in the race for the podium in Ligue 1.
