Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio could have been a Manchester City player this season. Destiny wanted it otherwise.
Asencio has been a revelation since making his debut for the Whites during the current season. According to daily AS, City offered 6 million euros for Asencio last summer, but the offer was immediately rejected by Real. City had planned to buy and loan Asencio to Girona for a season.
Ancelotti is keen on his young prospect at Real
Real coach Carlo Ancelotti said of his young defender: “He has shown that he is a reliable central defender. There is absolutely no shortage of knowledge in this position. He is very well placed, confident and motivated. He performed very well in these four matches. If one day I have to put him on the bench, I will have to think about it carefully…”.
Asked if he had been surprised by the maturity displayed by his young prodigy, Carletto added: “ Yes, he surprised me, especially with his maturity, with the calm he shows in handling game situations. He is never worried, we never see him being afraid, he is very confident. He has already passed the test of fire, he can be considered a player in our team with all the merits, because he deserves it.”
