Colombia international James – who was named player of the tournament at the 2024 Copa America as Messi and Argentina defended their continental crown on American soil – is going through a difficult time returning to Spain with Rayo Vallecano.
The former Real Madrid playmaker returned to Europe following his Copa exploits, but his playing time was limited after opting for a second spell in the Spanish capital. James has only seen 136 minutes of action in La Liga this season, with just one start in the top flight.
James in Miami to relaunch
It is understood that his one-year contract could be terminated in early 2025, allowing the 33-year-old to find another new challenge. According to reports in the United States, as picked up by Estadio Deportivo, James is on Inter Miami’s radar.
The Herons are plotting a rebuild after suffering 2024 MLS Cup play-off failures against Atlanta United, with David Beckham and the club’s board looking for more experienced players at the highest level.
James would fit this category and could be offered the opportunity to join Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets in Florida. There is also talk of Inter Miami still keeping close tabs on World Cup winner Angel Di Maria and Brazilian international superstar Neymar.
