Lamine Yamal, it’s obvious

The 2-1 home defeat to Las Palmas last Saturday forced Barca to go three matches without a win.

At one point, Hansi Flick’s side were nine points ahead of Real Madrid, but if the reigning champions won their two late matches the Catalans would drop to second place in the La Liga table.

The common trend of these three matches is that Lamine Yamal did not start. The 17-year-old sensation completely missed the matches against Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo due to injury, while he was only able to start on the bench against Las Palmas.

Yamal-dependence proven

Furthermore, he also did not start in the other La Liga match that Barcelona did not win, namely a 4-2 defeat against Osasuna. According to Sport, Flick’s team won all the matches where the teenager started, but failed to win those where he did not start.

This shows that Barcelona is counting on Lamine Yamal, and especially more than the Catalans thought.
