Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies is expected to have big commercial potential this summer, with some of Europe’s top clubs looking for the Canadian whose contract expires next summer. The 24-year-old won’t have helped his market this week, however, after being arrested for drink-driving by local police.

The Canadian left-back tested positive for blood alcohol levels during a test Thursday evening, BILD reports. The incident took place at 02:15 CEST, with Davies forced to shift gears and his friend taking the wheel of his €216,000 Lamborghini.

A fine to expect

As his alcohol level was 0.6 g/l and not 0.8 g or more, Davies will not be charged with a crime, but rather with a traffic violation. His punishment will likely be a fine and a suspension of his driving license for a month. He trained normally on Friday and is expected to play against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Davies has been in talks with Real Madrid for months, and the Whites are said to be confident of signing him next summer when his contract expires. Barcelona have also shown interest, while Manchester United and Bayern Munich continue to pursue and retain him respectively.
