Thiago Messi played for Inter Miami’s under-13 team in the Newell’s Cup in Rosario, Argentina last Monday. Perhaps the first steps of an emblematic career like that of his father Lionel Messi.
If Messi Sr. was not present at the Jorge B Griffa Sports Complex, his 12-year-old son, to whom many predict a great future, shone for the MLS team during the 10th edition of the youth tournament. An event which sees eight clubs from North and South America compete over five days.
Messi and Suarez, the reconstituted duo
Benjamin Suarez, the son of Uruguayan Luis Suarez, a former FC Barcelona striker, also started for Inter alongside Thiago, with the duo replicating the association of their fathers when they played together at FC Barcelona.
Thiago wore the number 10 jersey of “Las Garzas”. He was unable to prevent his team from losing to the host team, Newell’s Old Boys. This is the club where his father began his junior career many years ago.
His mother, Antonela Roccuzzo, and much of his family, including his grandparents, were in the crowd, as the son of one of the best players of all time tries to find his feet in the world football.
