Arriving in the summer of 2023 at Manchester United, André Onana had a difficult first season at Manchester United. Author of a disastrous start to the season, the Cameroonian goalkeeper was able to pull himself together to offer a much more consistent second half of the season. At the start of the season, the former Ajax Amsterdam player is at the level despite the poor performances of the Red Devils.

This Tuesday, however, it was not for football that the 28-year-old goalkeeper was rewarded. Indeed, FIFPRO awarded him the FIFPRO 2024 Merit Award for player impact: “André Onana received the 2024 FIFPRO Merit Award for Player Impact. His foundation provides free medical care and surgery throughout sub-Saharan Africa, helping nearly 500 children each year.» A distinction which therefore allows us to salute the very fine extra-sporting actions of the former Inter Milan goalkeeper.
