At the twilight of his high-level career (he could join MLS next summer), Antoine Griezmann is taking care of his statistics. The 2018 world champion celebrated his 100th in the Champions League when Atlético traveled to Sparta Prague for a 6-0 victory on Tuesday evening. Already winners two weeks ago at the Parc des Princes against PSG, Diego Simeone’s men have three victories (for 9 points) and are getting closer to the top 8.
Left on the bench by the “Cholo” (a first in two years!) but launched in the 59th minute of the game in the Czech Republic, “Grizi” participated in his team’s offensive festival by scoring in the 70th minute, a shot from the right after a service from Marcos Llorente. Thanks to this 38th goal, Griezmann is involved in 51 goals in the Champions League, counting his 13 assists.

A nice record but which remains much lower than those of Karim Benzema (117 goals/assists in 152 matches), Thierry Henry (75 goals/assists in 112 matches) and Kylian Mbappé (73 goals/assists in 77 matches). “Grizi” can do nothing against a “KB9” who has had great LDC seasons with Real Madrid and will quickly be dropped by his former teammate Mbappé, who is only 25 years old, but he will therefore end up very far from his idol Thierry Henry.
Atlético first led thanks to a free kick from Julian Alvarez (15th) before doubling the lead before half-time thanks to Marcos Llorente (43rd) and taking the lead in the second half thanks to the second goal from Alvarez (56th), Griezmann’s achievement and Angel Correa’s double (85th and 89th).
