With Liverpool trailing 2-1 after 56 minutes, the Egypt international scored twice in the final half hour to secure Arne Slot’s side a huge 3-2 win at St Mary’s on Sunday. This also allowed the 32-year-old to score his 100th goal away from Anfield.
Liverpool’s victory against Southampton took them eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table. The Reds still have 26 games to play, but it was three points that did Slot’s side good, especially as they were far from their best. And once again, they have their talisman Salah to thank for this victory.
A new record
Since Salah left Roma for Liverpool in 2017, the former Chelsea player has scored 221 goals and made 99 assists in 366 appearances for the Merseyside side. The winger could also add a few more goals and assists before the end of the season.
Salah will be hoping to score again when his Liverpool side, unbeaten in the Champions League this season, face reigning champions Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
