Arriving at the club last summer, Roberto De Zerbi made a rather encouraging start as coach of Olympique de Marseille. After 12 days, his team is third in the standings, with notably 6 victories gleaned away from its bases. Including the last one last Saturday on the ground of Lens (3-1).
The Italian is therefore doing quite well at the Vélodrome, with a well-defined style. However, there are some, among observers, who are not at all convinced by his paw. This is particularly the case of a former club striker.
“De Zerbi, it won’t work at OM”
A certain Marc Libbra (1990-97) expressed his dissatisfaction with what Marseille has been offering since the start of the season. “What bothers me is that, after twelve days, what have we seen? OM cannot establish its domination »he underlined during an intervention on RMC.
Libbra then added to it by affirming that the marriage between De Zerbi and OM is necessarily doomed to failure. “After twelve days, you know your squad, you have prepared it. For me, what De Zerbi wants to put in place will not work at OM.” he added. An opinion that is questionable to say the least, especially when we know that the Italian has only been at the club for a few months and that many of his predecessors had been less efficient in this role.
