At a press conference, Carlo Ancelotti did not hide his enthusiasm at the idea of having the versatile Moroccan striker among his options, both to strengthen the attack and to bring depth to the midfield. As a reminder, the native of Malaga had to stay away from the field since mid-September due to a hamstring injury, before making his return during the Clasico lost against Barça (0-4) on October 26 .
“Brahim has come back very well, he is in extraordinary form. He can play as a striker and assist the midfielders. He is very, very important to us”confided the Mister before the trip to Leganes this Sunday in La Liga.
Brahim Diaz shines with the Atlas Lions
Restricted to a luxury replacement role, Brahim Diaz could take advantage of the absences, notably that of Rodrygo, affected by a muscle injury, to establish himself more. In selection, he particularly distinguished himself during the international break in November, scoring a double against Gabon (5-1) and a hat-trick against Lesotho (7-0) during qualifying for CAN 2025.
Since the start of the season, the 25-year-old has taken part in nine matches, including two starts, scoring one goal and providing two assists. With only 254 cumulative minutes of play, Brahim Diaz is among the players least used by Ancelotti, like Dani Ceballos (108 minutes) or the young Arda Güler (307 minutes) and Endrick (122 minutes).
