The international break has not completely revived FC Barcelona. The Catalans were left with a defeat in La Liga against Real Sociedad (1-0) and did not fully resume their march towards the title this Saturday, away to Celta Vigo (2-2).
After leading 2 to 0, Hansi Flick’s players lost their footing, particularly after the expulsion of Marc Casado for a second yellow card (82nd). Raphinha, Barça’s strong man this season, with 13 goals and 10 assists in 18 matches, opened the scoring in the first half on a long pass from Jules Koundé. The former Stade Rennais player took the time to catch his defender on a hook before calmly adjusting Guaita (0-1, 15th).
Lewandowski force 15
Robert Lewandowski then doubled the lead after a favorable counterattack, the former Dortmund and Munich striker placing a flat with his own foot after the break (0-2, 61st). The Pole, author of his 15th league goal, now has more goals in La Liga than Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappé combined this season!
In four minutes, however, everything went up in smoke and, ten against eleven, Barça suffered the assaults of Celta. Alfonso Gonzalez (1-2, 84th), then Hugo Alvarez (2-2, 86th), after a sumptuous hook in the area, allowed Vigo to equalize and blow away Balaidos.
Barça remains orphaned by Lamine Yamal, who will not normally return before December, but is still 5 points ahead of Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga.
