The French team knows which opponent it will challenge in the quarterfinals of the Nations League. It will be Zlatko Dalic’s Croatia. The first leg will be played away on March 20, and the return three days later in France.
Croatia is an old acquaintance for the Tricolores. The “Vatreni” caused problems for Didier Deschamps’ men during the previous Nations League (1 victory and 1 draw). On the other hand, the Blues dominated this nation in 2018 in the final of the World Cup in Russia. A triumph whose memory still remains clear.
Croatia then Spain for France?
In the event of qualification for the semi-finals of the competition, the Blues will challenge the winner of the opposition between the Netherlands and Spain. The level will rise especially if it is La Roja, the reigning European champion, who is opposite.
The other quarters of this Nations League will pit Denmark against Portugal and also Italy and Germany. And the winners will come face to face in the final four.
Note that winning teams of their quarters will have the advantage of appearing in a group of 5 in the World Cup qualifiers and they will not begin their qualifying campaign until September 2025.
