AS Monaco does not let go of PSG. Pointed to six points behind the reigning French champions before the kick-off of their match against Brest, this Friday evening at Louis II, the Principality club came back to three lengths behind the leader thanks to their 2-1 victory.
The Monegasques started the game strong by opening the scoring through Akliouche (4th), well served by Ben Seghir. Dominant, notably thanks to heavy pressing, the men doubled the lead with a strike at the entrance to the area by Golovin (24th). But upon returning from the locker room, Eric Roy’s squad reignited the suspense. Following a corner, Sima reduced the score with an uncrossed header (49th). But the Monegasques ultimately did better than hold on, sealing the fate of the match thanks to a double from Akliouche (90th + 1). Ajorque’s goal (90th + 5) changed nothing.
Building on this new victory, Monaco consolidates its place as runner-up to PSG, before welcoming Benfica next Wednesday in the Champions League. For its part, Brest did not prepare as well as possible for its shock against FC Barcelona on Tuesday evening.
