Morocco will look to complete its grand slam in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers when it hosts Lesotho at the Honor Stadium on Monday on the final day of the competition. In the first leg, the Atlas Lions won 1-0 against Lesotho and they hope to do it again in this second round against Lesotho.
Morocco wants to finish in style
Although assured of an automatic place at CAN 2025 due to its status as organizing country, Morocco is participating in these qualifiers for secondary reasons, but it does not seem to want to take things lightly.
Walid Regragui’s men immediately showed their intentions by inflicting a 4-1 correction on Gabon during their first outing, before winning against Lesotho and the Central African Republic (two victories) with a cumulative score of 10 -0.
The semi-finalists of the last World Cup saw their series of clean sheets come to an end in the last match against Gabon, where they were led to the score by Denis Bouanga before winning 5-1 thanks to the exploits of Brahim Diaz.
Although it hardly matters, Morocco are well ahead of Group B, eight points ahead of Gabon and three ahead of Lesotho, ahead of Monday’s meeting between the two teams.
The Moroccans are the only team with a perfect record in the qualifiers after five matches and now have the opportunity to secure their highest number of points in an AFCON qualifying campaign since 2017 (16).
