The Blues ended the year on a positive note by winning against Italy (3-1) this Sunday at San Siro, during the 6th day of the Nations League. A satisfactory performance for many observers, but also for Ibrahima Konaté.

Captain for one night, the Liverpool central defender appreciated the proud reaction of his team after the frustrating draw against Israel (0-0) last Thursday. He notably mentioned the questioning which followed the poor operation carried out at the Stade de France.

A victory that does good for the Blues

“We were on a mission. From the start, during the warm-up, it was clear that we were there to win. The captain’s words? It wasn’t the captain’s words that were important, it was the words of the whole team. It was important that everyone could talk in the locker room”he confided.

“Against Israel, it’s true that we had the opportunities to kill the match and it didn’t happen. Beyond that, there was a need for individual and collective questioning and that is what we did. We are super happy because we put in the desire, we showed a beautiful face and that’s what we remember”concluded Konaté.
