The gathering this November will leave its mark on the French team. First after a disappointing first match against Israel, at the Stade de France (0-0), then, after the takeover of certain names against Italy (3-1) during a victory allowing the Blues to finish at the first place in the group. All in the absence of Kylian Mbappé for the second rally in a row. And inevitably, several questions arise about the future of Kylian Mbappé in Blues after this long international break until next March.

Already during this gathering, Didier Deschamps was annoyed by questions about the future of his captain: “I am not going to ask myself a question that is not on the agenda. Everything in its time (…) he wanted to come, I’ll say it again, but I think it’s better at this moment for him. Everyone has the right to have a complicated period. There is the physical and psychological aspect too”he explained. And if there is no question of never seeing him again in the France team, that of seeing him without the armband is more open.

Three names for the Kylian Mbappé armband

According to information from The Teamthe current coach of the Blues intends to discuss with Kylian Mbappé about the captaincy before the next gathering. If he wants to remain captain and wearing the armband is not a burden for the Madrilenian, then he should stay that way. On the other hand, if he prefers to entrust this task to another executive, Didier Deschamps would be ready to choose another name. DD and the Blues staff would already have names in mind.

N’Golo Kanté and Ibrahima Konaté were captains during this gathering, while Aurélien Tchouaméni inherited this role during the month of October. The daily specifies that the Blues staff particularly appreciated Konaté’s contribution during the recent gathering in this role, but the Liverpool central defender must establish himself more in the Blues’ hinge to definitively win this role. Same thing for Tchouaméni, who is no longer as indisputable as before. Didier Deschamps will have several months to think.
