African Footballer of the Year: An L1 player among the five finalists

Who will succeed Victor Osimhen, African footballer of the year 2024, on December 16? Certainly, it will be a player never before distinguished in this way.

This Monday CAF revealed the five finalists: Simon Adingra (Brighton/Côte d’Ivoire), Serhou Guirassy (Stuttgart/Dortmund/Guinea), Achraf Hakimi (PSG/Morocco), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta/Nigeria) and Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns/South Africa).

As for the best youngster, three of the nominees still in the running play in Ligue 1: Oumar Diakité (Reims/Côte d’Ivoire), Eliesse Ben Seghir (Monaco/Morocco), Lamine Camara (Metz/Monaco/Senegal), Karim Konaté (Salzburg/Ivory Coast) and Yankuba Minteh (Brighton/Gambia).

Note that Angers Ivorian goalkeeper Yahia Fofana is claiming the title of best goalkeeper of the year 2024.
