Real Madrid finally sees some light in a dark period. While the Merengues accumulate disappointments, with scathing defeats against FC Barcelona (0-4) and AC Milan (1-3) at home, coach Carlo Ancelotti could soon count on the return of David Alaba. Absent since December 2023 due to a serious knee injury, the Austrian defender has resumed training with the ball, an encouraging sign for Madrid’s struggling defensive sector.

An expected return to strengthen Madrid’s defense

The Spanish media estimate that despite this first step, Alaba may not return to competition until after the winter break, in January 2025. His rehabilitation, although worrying for some due to joint complications, nevertheless seems to be going as planned according to Fabrizio Romano, who reassured supporters about the recovery of the former Bayern Munich player.

Alaba’s return could bring the experience and stability lacking to Real Madrid’s defense, weighed down by nine goals conceded in the last three games.
