Lloris has opted to leave the Premier League giants in December 2023, to join Los Angeles FC on a free transfer, after being dropped from the first-team picture in north London. His departure from Spurs left him with 447 appearances in all competitions, following a transfer from Lyon in 2012, who can boast of being the non-British player with the most appearances in the club’s history.
However, despite his longevity at Tottenham, Lloris has failed to win a trophy in England, losing two EFL Cup finals and the 2019 Champions League final in Madrid to Liverpool. Tottenham’s last victory was in the 2008 EFL Cup, and Lloris criticized the club’s mentality during his time there as a symbol of why they failed.
Lloris is talking about himself again
“Four days before the Champions League final, Daniel Levy called us all together to announce that we would each receive a luxurious aviator’s watch from the club. On the back of the watch, the player’s name and: “2019 Champions League Finalist: Finalist”said Lloris in his new autobiography, serialized by The Guardian.Who does something like that at a time like this? I still haven’t gotten over it and I’m not the only one. »
“When I went back to my room the night we lost the final, I think I had the same feeling as Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane: ‘Does the club really want to win?’ “Real Madrid would never have celebrated a losing final and we shouldn’t have either. »
