Two and a half years after his departure, Jorge Sampaoli will perhaps return to the French championship. The Argentine technician is in the sights of Rennes management for the position of coach.
The SRFC plans to part ways with Julien Stéphan, who is no longer satisfactory in his role. Several options were studied and the one leading to Sampaoli is not the least prestigious.
Sampaoli has an advantage
According to the daily L’Equipe, this track has even become thicker in recent hours, to the detriment of that played by Habib Beye or Patrick Vieira. The former Albiceleste coach did a very good job in Marseille (finishing notably vice-champion of France) and this is why the Breton management is interested in his services.
Aged 64, Sampaoli had his last experience with Flamengo. However, he only stayed there for a few months. Currently, he is free from any commitment. One more advantage over his competitors for the bench at Roazhon Park. If he is appointed, he will be the first foreign coach of Rennes since Laszlo Boloni (2003/2006).
