Since his departure from Real Madrid in June 2021, Zinedine Zidane has been constantly announced in all four corners of the globe. Sometimes expected to coach major European clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain, other times to take the reins of the Saudi selection.
But the former darling of the Blues also saw his name circulated among the Brazilian selection to replace Tite. The Auriverde technician left his post after the elimination of the Seleção in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup against Croatia (1-1, 2-4 on penalties).
Leonardo advises Zidane
According to The TeamZidane would however have declined the proposal from the Brazilian Federation (CBF). In an interview for Le FigaroLeonardo, former sports director of PSG, estimated that the Seleção did not represent the best opportunity for the French coach, who maintains the ambition of one day leading the France team.
“Compared to Brazil, the moment is difficult because there are training problems and in the federation. It is perhaps not the best for Zidane to come at the head of the Brazilian selection (smile). Zidane’s future is the France team, not Brazil. It makes more sense”judged the 1994 world champion.
