Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits Bournemouth’s intensity was too much for his side.
City were surprised 2-1 on Saturday at Dean Court this Saturday. This is the Sky Blues’ first setback this season. A misstep for which Guardiola takes full responsibility. The Catalan technician confided after the meeting: “We knew we couldn’t match Bournemouth’s intensity. We talked about it. It was an open match. We had chances at the end, but I congratulate Bournemouth on their victory.”
Guardiola applauds Bournemouth
Guardiola praised the Cherries’ style of play: “50-50 balls in the middle, duels, they play this type of match. They are very aggressive. They had six-seven days to prepare. They have physicality and speed, but you have to win these kinds of situations. And they had chances. Ederson made a good save. We had some really good moments at the start of the second half and after that it was hard to swallow because we were good. After the goal we had momentum and chances, but we couldn’t score.”
“That’s how it is. We have few players with a lot of minutes and a lot of players without minutes, which makes the balance a little uncomfortable. We played well against Spurs, but today we couldn’t handle their intensity and that’s why we lost the match.”concluded the Sky Blues manager.
