Busy afternoon in England. On the Bournemouth pitch, Manchester City lost precious points and failed to take advantage of the Gunners’ new defeat against Newcastle. Pep Guardiola’s men conceded a goal in the 9th minute of play. Antoine Semenyo, after a great collective action, nailed the Citizens from the start (9th, 1-0). At the hour mark, the Cherries even doubled the lead thanks to a goal from Evanilson (64th, 2-0). Despite Gvardiol’s reduction in the score at the end of the match (2-1, 82nd), Manchester City lost for the second time in a row, after its defeat against Tottenham (2-1) in the League Cup last Wednesday. The club thus suddenly falls from its pedestal, and is now in 2nd place with 23 points. On the Anfield side, Liverpool were also surprised from the start of their match. Opposed to Brighton, the Reds were stifled throughout the first half. Ferdi Kadioglu, thanks to a pass in the area from his teammate Danny Welbeck, opened the scoring with a superb cross strike (14th, 0-1).

A mixed start to the match for Liverpool, like their match against Arsenal (2-2) last week. Another hard blow for the club, the exit of Konaté, visibly injured in the arm, replaced by Joe Gomez after returning from the locker room. Liverpool, however, regained some color in the rest of the game. More offensive, the Reds intensified their efforts, notably with strikes from Gomez (48th) and Salah (56th). Efforts which ended up paying off: first Gakpo (69th, 1-1), then Salah (72nd, 2-1) completely turned the match around in less than five minutes. With this good result, Liverpool takes first place in the standings (with 25 points), taking advantage of the defeat of their rivals, Arsenal and Manchester City. Another meeting of the day saw Nottingham win against West Ham (3-0), thanks to a goal from Chris Wood (27th), Hudson-Odoi (65th) and Ola Aina (82nd). Nottingham therefore takes third place in the Championship, ahead of Arsenal, confirming its impressive start to the season. Finally, Everton fell (0-1) against Southampton while Leicester snatched the point of the draw on the Ipswich lawn thanks to a goal from Jordan Ayew on the wire.

Other results of the day:

Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal: Isak (12th)

Bournemouth 2-1 Manchester City: Semenyo (9th), Evanilson (64th) / Gvardiol (82nd)
