The bad period continues for Arsenal. After its defeat at Bournemouth (2-0) and the draw in the clash against Liverpool (2-2), Mikel Arteta’s team gave in again this Saturday afternoon to Newcastle (1-0), in the opening of the 10th day of the Premier League.
The Magpies, however, occupied a disappointing 12th place before this meeting, and had not won for five days. But the talent of its attackers made the difference at the start of the match, with a superb cross from Anthony Gordon for the very beautiful header from Alexander Isak (12th).
Arsenal had all the rest of the match to come back to the score, but the Gunners, still deprived of Martin Odegaard, clearly lacked inspiration near the opponent’s area. The outcome? 10 shots, only 1 on target, and only one real dangerous opportunity, with an unsteady header from Declan Rice (90th+3).
In the standings, Arsenal could lose big during this day, especially if Manchester City and Liverpool win this Saturday afternoon. There could be 8 and 7 points difference in a few hours…
