With his titles in Serie A and the Italian Cup with Inter Milan, as well as a new triumph in the Copa América under the colors of Argentina, the 27-year-old striker was hoping for a better place than his 7th position in the ranking.
Martinez, convinced that he deserved to be higher, finds himself behind Kylian Mbappé (6th), Erling Haaland (5th), Dani Carvajal (4th), Jude Bellingham (3rd), Vinicius Jr (2nd) and of course Rodri, crowned during this 68th edition.
Martinez sends a clear message

“To be honest, I expected better than 7th place in the Ballon d’Or. Sometimes these rewards are unfair. I will work hard to do better in the future”said Martinez, author of 5 goals and 4 assists in 12 games since the start of the season.
