Lamine Yamal will not win the Ballon d’Or this year. But he did not leave the Chatelet theater empty-handed. The Raymond Kopa trophy was awarded to him.

This prize which rewards the best 21-year-old footballer logically went to him, given the immense season he accomplished. He was notably the big attraction of the last Euro with his Spanish selection.

Yamal continues to break precocity records

Yamal succeeds Jude Bellingham on the list. He is the youngest player to receive this award since its conception in 2018 as he is only 17 years and 107 days old. And his Ballon d’Or ranking is also impressive (8th).

When receiving his prize, the Barcelona native expressed his happiness : “It’s a great pride for me. Thank you France Football for this immense recognition. I challenge this prize to my mother and my grandmother who always have me, as well as to my selection and my club. Visca Barca. »

When he was then asked if he planned to take on the challenge of being the youngest winner of the Ballon d’Or, Lamine Yamal replied “no” with a smile. Ruud Gullit then came to his rescue, saying he was shy. Shy on the stage, but not on the field.
