Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has reacted after breaking Thierry Henry’s 23-year-old record after scoring his 50th Premier League goal against Liverpool.

The young Gunner returned from injury to torment Liverpool in an entertaining 2-2 draw which saw Saka open the scoring just minutes into the match. He scored his 50th Premier League goal, meaning he broke the club record set in 2001 by Henry, who was 24 when he scored his half-century for the Gunners.

Saka was asked about the feat after the match, after appearing to copy Henry’s iconic celebration, and admitted that everything he does for the club will be compared to the French legend.

Saka proud to be compared to Henry

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I try to keep the goalkeepers waiting. I think it was a nice finish, I haven’t seen it yet but it was nice. Thierry Henry has all the records so that’s good but of course, you especially want to win the match. But I have to be happy with that. Everything is “Thierry Henry style”. If you score, it’s Thierry Henry, if you make an assist, it’s Thierry Henry. I feel good. I thought I could finish the match but the coach took me out. »

Saka has already scored four goals and provided seven assists in all competitions this season and has made a name for himself as one of the most consistent players in the Premier League. At his current rate, the 23-year-old is set to become one of Arsenal’s most prolific players in the final third of the pitch.
