This Saturday afternoon, Manchester City hosted Southampton on the ninth day of the Premier League. From the fifth minute of the match, the inevitable Erling Haaland opened the scoring when he was pulled by the jersey (1-0). The Norwegian striker scored his eleventh league goal of the season, taking a cross from Matheus Nunes with the inside of his left foot.

Haaland more clumsy than usual

In the second half, Foden was about to make the break but his left shot went just wide of Ramsdale’s goal (47th). Haaland also missed the opportunity to score a double several times (50th, 52nd and 64th).

Thanks to this victory, Pep Guardiola’s men regain control in the standings. They now have 23 points, two points more than Liverpool. However, the Reds will be able to regain the leadership chair in the event of victory on Sunday at Arsenal.
