Severely beaten on the pitch of FC Barcelona last weekend (5-1), Sevilla FC tried to relaunch a positive series with another trip to the Catalan capital, this time to face RCD Espanyol on behalf of the La Liga matchday 11 at Cornella-El Prat. The other Barcelona club had only won one small match in their last five league outings, notably suffering a slap in the face in Bilbao against Athletic on the previous day.

In the end, it was the Andalusians who left the RCDE Stadium with the three points of victory. One man was decisive in this great victory in Catalonia: the Belgian international Dodi Lukebakio, author of a double in the first period, connecting a beautiful strike from outside the area (0-1, 20th) before crucify Joan Garcia with a shot placed to shake her small right net (0-2, 45th). No change in score in the second half, despite a semblance of revolt from the locals, in vain. The three points of success allow Sevilla FC to gain four provisional places in the standings (9th, 15 points). Espanyol adds a fifth defeat in a month and remains two points from the relegation zone (15th, 10 pts).
