PSG found themselves in a bad situation yesterday after their draw (1-1) against PSV Eindhoven on the 3rd day of the Champions League. Despite a significant number of scoring chances, the Parisians struggled to get back on track, even if they could have won at the end. This lack of realism, which has been repeated since the end of last season, hurts the ranking since with only 4 points in 3 matches, the capital club occupies 17th place and the calendar is not really favorable to it. Symbol of this glaring lack of offensive realism, Ousmane Dembélé was not spared by the press. The FM editorial team notably gave it a 3.5 for its two huge wasted opportunities. Other former players like Jérôme Rothen also did not digest his performance. The ex-Paris midfielder does not understand the management’s choice to make him its key element in attack, especially after the departure of Kylian Mbappé.

He is one of the experienced players. Since the departure of Kylian Mbappé, if there is a French international starting at PSG, it’s him. (…) When you make this kind of copy, it’s complicated. There are things that seem essential to me to be in the category of important players, with a special status. Ousmane Dembélé is missing the pointassures the left-hander on the antennas of RMC. Will he be able at his age to question himself, when you have been on alternating current so often like that, I don’t know. I have a big doubt. Last year, I’m glad he scored two important goals, notably the one against Barça. He has enormous qualities but giving him the keys to the truck to help PSG win… I was certain yesterday that it is not possible. (…) When you have this status for such little return, it’s not a good pick. It was not on him that we had to bet to go very high.»
