After PSG’s draw against PSV, Thierry Henry believes that the departure of Kylian Mbappé has left a void and that PSG lacks experienced players to supervise the youth.

After PSG’s disappointing draw against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League (1-1), Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, Thierry Henry delivered a frank analysis on the weaknesses of the Parisian team on CBS Sports. Despite 26 shots attempted, Luis Enrique’s men were unable to make a difference and for him, the departure of Kylian Mbappé left a void. “They are more stable, more balanced, but they have lost this magic that Mbappé brought”he declared.

Henry calls for more experience

According to the 1998 world champion, the problem does not lie only in the lack of realism, but also in the choice to focus mainly on youth. “You can’t be ‘100% young’ too soon. You need experienced players to mentor the youngsters,” he added, citing Marquinhos and Achraf Hakimi as examples of veterans. For him, PSG must find a better balance to progress.
